Calling all nature enthusiasts and Subaru fans alike! Kenny Ross Subaru, living up to Subaru’s Love the Earth initiative, teamed up with local businesses for a day of giving back to Mother Nature.
This Earth Day, a mighty crew of 36 volunteers descended upon Bear Run Nature Reserve. Armed with gloves, determination, and a love for the outdoors–their mission? To tackle the aftermath of all that extra rain and restore some beloved hiking trails.
Stone Alexander (Land Stewardship Coordinator) and Zach Zelazny (Land Steward) of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy led the charge. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to protect and preserve our region’s natural treasures – clean water, lush forests, and the incredible wildlife that calls it home.
But why volunteer? Stone shared some insightful words: “I think that volunteer events are incredibly important because it not only supports your local/regional conservation organization in protecting some incredible properties that are open to the public, but it also gives visitors some insight into what goes into managing and caring for properties like Bear Run.”
While it was undoubtedly a sweaty day, the Bear Run volunteers left feeling humbled and rewarded. It’s a reminder that the trails we hike and the serene woods we explore don’t maintain themselves.
