Kenny Ross Subaru Makes a Difference at Food Bank Distribution

This past Saturday’s food distribution event at McKeesport High School wasn’t your average handout.  Yes, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank was there, providing essential groceries – including frozen turkeys and fresh produce – to families in need.  But for one woman, the day became an unexpected story of helping hands, heartwarming connections, and a car battery miracle.

Our very own Kenny Ross Subaru managers jumped right in to volunteer alongside the other community heroes.  What they witnessed was a surge in need – nearly double the number of people compared to past distributions.  Thankfully, the volunteers’ dedication and teamwork ensured almost everyone who came through received a box of food.

But one particular story stood out.  Barbara, waiting patiently in line, faced a double whammy: a broken-down car and the fear of missing her turn for groceries that were a crucial source of support.  Enter Jim Hoffman, SOA District Parts & Service Manager.  Jim, with the skills of a pit crew superhero, whipped out jumper cables and got Barbara’s car roaring back to life.

As they chatted, Jim learned about Barbara’s recent loss and the immense help the food bank provided.  Touched by her story, the Kenny Ross Subaru team wasn’t about to let car trouble be her next hurdle.  Howard Boughter, the service manager, sprang into action.  A quick call back to the dealership arranged for a brand new battery installation – absolutely free for Barbara.

The look on Barbara’s face as she received her food and directions to Kenny Ross Subaru was priceless.  Her overwhelming gratitude was a powerful reminder of the impact even small acts of kindness can have.  After all, who knew a trip to the food bank would turn into a day filled with full bellies, a jump start, and a new lease on the road for Barbara!

This story exemplifies the spirit of Kenny Ross Subaru.  We’re not just about cars – we’re about community.  And sometimes, lending a helping hand can make all the difference.
