The North Huntingdon Junior Police Academy wrapped up another scorching hot week, but that didn’t stop the cadets from having a blast. Thanks to some amazing local fire departments, the kids got a cool down with water sprays almost every day – a lifesaver in this Pennsylvania heat!
This year’s Academy was the biggest yet, with nearly 60 excited participants. Officer-led activities like firearm safety (don’t worry, they weren’t real!), CPR and first aid, and even crime scene investigation kept the cadets engaged all week. They even got to chat with real-life state police helicopter pilots – how cool is that?
But the real highlight for many (let’s be honest, probably everyone!) was Wednesday’s water safety and survival skills training with the Youghiogheny River water rescue team. Talk about an adrenaline rush!

The week ended with a graduation ceremony, where all the cadets received certificates for their accomplishments. We can’t wait to see these future heroes make a difference in our community!
